TO REGISTER: Contact Suzanne Halstead at or 440/973-4372

Cost: $40 per workshop or $105 for all three

FOR ALL THREE WORKSHOPS: Each workshop is independently designed. We will focus on using one image for all three different workshop techniques. However, feel free to use a different image for each workshop if you prefer. Please bring with you some photographs or other visual images you would like to use as a reference for the workshops you attend. We will also have a supply of images available for your use. Supplies for all three workshops are included!

Workshop 1: Collage (May 8)

Explore this versatile medium with a plentiful supply of color and textured papers, magazines and other recycled material as our ‘palette’. Collage, which means “to paste”, was coined by artist Pablo Picasso in the early 1900’s. Artists have been using this eclectic medium with a wide array of fascinating results ever since! We will use our photograph or chosen image as the jumping off point to create a lively colorful and/or highly textured artwork using paste or glue as our unifying element.

Workshop 2: Painting (May 15)

Discover the ease and joy of acrylic painting. In a relaxed informative style, you’ll learn how to transform any image into a captivating work of art. Along with your imagination and a basic understanding of color harmony, perspective, contrast and focal point, we’ll embark on an exciting journey of artistic discovery where you’ll determine and develop all the elements of your own personal masterpiece.

Workshop 3: Printmaking (May 22)

Learn how printmaking techniques provide a new way of seeing and interpreting your reference photo or image. There are many types of printmaking processes and in this workshop, we will be utilizing a form of relief printing with styrene plates. This allows us to create bold graphic works of line, shape and color. With a form of block printing, we will explore techniques of raised and indented surfaces, negative and positive space and brayed inking that will result in a dynamic and visually strong artwork.
