This looks gorgeous printed on wood. It is now hanging on my therapy office wall and is perfect. The color is true to the photo. I love it.

Very pleased with the image, color, printing . My selection of printing onto wood is great for this image. There are a few mildly dark lines which are natural to wood. They show through the image and contribute to the image--glad that none of these was over the face of the horse rider.

Artist's Description
This Common Loon was on Big Rideau Lake in eastern Ontario This image is part of a 3-shot set, showing 3 parts of the loon's preening and drying cycle. This third stage captures the wings in full movement just before the bird settles back on the water. I suspect it is part of the preening cycle but it may also have other behavioural undertones in communicating with other loons. The most interesting part to me is that it is the end of the cycle caught by the 3 images, providing context for the shot.
About Mike Eckersley
The natural world has fascinated me since the age of 6 when I wandered the Niagara Escarpment in southern Ontario. It led me to an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph and then a career spanning almost 37 years with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist and then a senior program advisor for the Niagara Escarpment Program in MNR. After graduating from university I spent two years taking a photography course full time at Conestoga College in the mid-1970's learning, or starting to learn (or trying to learn), how to meld my love for the outdoors, my planned vocation as as a biologist and my love for photography. As a photographer, my focus is on the natural landscapes and wildlife...
