The Material Whirl is a collection of handmade postcard-size collages by Florida artist Matthew Hoffman. Each collage is made entirely from recycled paper including magazines, advertising, and dry packaging materials. Wrinkles, creases, odd cuts, and ragged edges add to the unique appeal of this process. The entire collection can be viewed at http://thematerialwhirl.wordpress.com. Available originals can be purchased on Etsy or directly from the artist, who also welcomes contacts regarding licensing of any of the images.
About Matthew Hoffman
Matthew Hoffman is a collage artist from Central Florida who believes that art should be accessible and for the people, not limited to museums and high-priced galleries. The Material Whirl is an ongoing project begun in January 2010, involving creating one postcard size collage each day, almost entirely from old magazines, advertisements, and other random items from the recycle bin. Matthew's collages have been exhibited in the Solivita Art Gallery in Poinciana, Florida, the CityArts Factory in Orlando, Florida, the Hart and Soul Gallery in Mount Dora, Florida, and the Trygve Lie Gallery in New York City, as well as in Los Angeles, and Moss, Norway.
