Amy's "Battle of Surrealism" represents an expression of her unconcious mind's struggle with her4 observation of the world or life not adhering to an order or logic she may feel comfortable with... Amy is looking for something that it is not present in the World as it is today. She observes the consequence of violence, crime, poverty and it is in conflict with her desire to find Life to be more orderly and logical ?? I think this is why the title is "Battle" to start with. I also notice that the painting could be seen as displaying the womb of a fertile young woman.... I think it means that as a fertile woman , she expects that birth of Life she may bring into this World will also be embroiled in a very disorderly society, in some instances bordering in the absurd.... I recall Doctors Without Borders (I am a member) has reported that 5 children in the World die of malnutrition every one minute !!! The red coloring there I feel is a symbol of stress or as a burning sensation or pain. Worldwide today we are facing a pandemic but also increased random violence, and children killing children. This should be a source of conflict with Her desire for orderly beauty as an artist or AESTHETICS. I was raised a Catholic , so I would state that such order in Life, societies, the World over could only be granted By God. As an artist this assault on her sense of beauty, and this sort of News displayed on TV, Newspapers is the source of conflict which remains buried in her mind,( my interpretation). Artists unlike Scientis or Engineers (I am one...) are excdellent in representing or presenting images of various problems with the Human Condition. Ivan Chemical Engineer/Quantum Chemist
