Bordaloue from nineteenth century England, decorated with a blue and white transfer printed Chinese pattern. The bordaloue is a type of chamber pot which was specially designed for women; it is oval in shape with a lip at one end and a handle at the other. This design would have been useful for travel, allowing women to relieve themselves without having to disturb their fashionable extensive skirts.
