Description
Outstanding still life by highly acclaimed artist Tony Pro. Tony Pro was born in Northridge, Ca in 1973. He was raised in Southern California among artists including his father, Julio Pro(b.1929). Tony received his BA in Graphic Design from Cal State Univ Northridge; he simultaneously attended class at California Art Institute where he studied with famed illustrator, Glenn Orbik. There he learned the value of academic figure and head drawing and how to apply strict study principles to his lifestyle. While attending classes at the Institute he was side by side with many of the greats that stemmed from the school, such as Ryan Wurmser and Jeremy Lipking. Pro has also painted in the tutelage of legends such as Richard Schmid and Morgan Weistling.
Pro's influences include John Singer Sargent, Anders Zorn, Joaquin Sorolla and Phillip Alexius de Laszlo. Other influences stem from the California Impressionist painters such as Edgar Payne, Granvillle Redmond, Armin Hansen, and William Wendt. The great French Representational artists like Emille Friant and Jules-Bastien Lepage also play a large role in Pro's style of painting.
