It was a beautiful piece and I will rate it as 5 star! Unfortunately it got here completely damaged, you should consider using one more reliable carrier. This is no way to do business. If you guys can’t deliver properly don’t sell. This was my first and last time I’ll ever order anything from fineartamerica.

We have a small home and very limited wall space, but I knew I had to share this on our main wall. I'll be putting it above our upright piano, to remind myself daily while practicing - embrace the transformation of bad and good, the transition of lightness and darkness - remembering we are whole.
Artist's Description
My planning for this project consisted of several ideas. I chose this composition from old black and wlhite photos for its sense of unity amongst the soldiers, and in order to provide clarity and realism to the artpiece. The sky was a separate creation, added to give a sense of mood to the challenges faced by the black infantry in the painting. After reference material was selected, I began by stretching lightly primed canvas duck over stretcher strips. I then added gesso to the canvas in order to smooth the painting surface for better paint distribution. Setting the actual composition onto canvas is always rendered free-hand in pencil, until a suitable arrangement is achieved. Liquitex Professional artist color is used exclusively with matte medium, and glazing medium. Actual paint application starts dark to light, and built upon with adjustments to composition until I am satisfied with the results. This painting was created specifically as a donation to the Veterans Hospital in Fres...
About Howard Stroman

Both my grandmother and mother are credited for nurturing my artistic beginnings. I was always inspired by their nods of approval when shown my pencil drawings of comic characters from the newspaper, or the fruit on the kitchen table. As always, I could hardly wait to start another drawing and see their sweet smiles and hear their kind words of approval. After winning 2nd place in a school wide art competition at Golden Gate grammar school in San Francisco, it was on. After my completion of honorable service with the 11th Air Assault Division, U.S. Army, Infantry in 1965, my childhood quest for artistic expression begin to materialize in earnest a few years later. Exhibitions have been many and rewards have been welcome. Most of...

Thanks, my friend. Always a pleasure to hear from you. Not enough commentary, nor recognition for the sacrifices our African American have made, AND in the face of bigotry and racial tensions. Under those conditions, many blacks could not rationalize the call to duty abroad, and the separate and unequal climate and treatment at home. Alas, we fought. To it and through it.

What a great tribute to the men of African descent that fought in WW2. Peace, O.
