Very nice solid accurate phone cover. Pleased with order.
Inspired by the famous 'dust-bowl' era B&W photograph "Migrant Mother" by Dorothea Lange, this updated colorized version shows the central figure emerging not unscathed but still undefeated from an unidentifiable darkness swirling around her. The bathing light shows a face of strength, determination, and humanity. Grace, dignity, and femininity in the figure's pose seems to shake off the darkness. A timeless beauty, undiminished by the mars of suffering or the carving done by the obstacles of life.

I'm sorry for not responding sooner. Shoulder surgery this weekend. The place is just outside of Schulenberg on the way to St. John. It's about 5 miles of a winding Farm Market road blanketed with Bluebonnets, cattle, horses and old barns. Can't get much more Texas then that. Note: Thanks much for the compliment. We lived off Coit for several years. Love the metroplex.

I wanted to paint how the ravishes of life don't touch our beauty. Thank you, John, for bringing this tragic illness to notice. -- mary ellen anderson

I want to thank you for entering the contest. The lady in the painting does look like she has lost something very tender to her heart. It is lost of memories that I feel I would miss if it were to happen to me. Thanks again in our efforts.

This looks like this poor woman has stepped out of a John Steinbeck novel. Lynne had a brother in law that knew Steinbeck personally, and couldn't stand him! He (brother in law) was more than a little opionated though. He was 80 something when he died, and had live in Monterey since he was a out 2. His family had been fishermen for generations. Monterey has a beautiful wharf that is still used by fishermen as well as tourists. Vince would go down to the wharf every morning to see his old fishermen friends, and would inevitably bring home a 5 gallon bucket full of everything from ling cod to squid. He was 1st generation Sicilian, and was a masterful cook, even had taught cooking at Monterey College. We went over one night for fish stew. It was over the top good. Lynne went to get another bowl full, took the lid of the cooker, and saw a big fishes head, eyeball and all, staring at her. That pretty well killed off any chance of her eating anymore. f/v don
