Bronchioles are small airways in the lungs that connect the larger airways with the alveoli, the small air sacs where gas exchange occurs. Cellular proteins are highlighted with fluorescent markers: g-actin (red), smooth muscle actin (green), and cell nuclei (blue). Magnification: x200 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
