Absolutely loved my print. The depth and details are spectacular and the quality of the print is fantastic. I framed this in a white frame and didn't have the exact size handy so kept the lower space intentionally open. I love how it came out.

I bought this for a friend who lived in France for many years. Now that she is back in the states she misses France her favorite country. When I spoke with her on the phone she absolutely loved it. It showed all the places she lived or visited. She loved that it had an antique flair. She is getting it framed when she can. This my gift for her to bring up her spirits. She has stage 4 cancer. We live in 2 different cities & are comrades & would do anything for each other. When I saw it in the website I knew I had to buy it. Great work. Artist's Description
This is two combined photos: a high speed flash photo of a magnificent hummingbird, and a picture from the landscape a day or two before or after I took the photo of the bird. Hummingbirds can survive short periods of cold by going into a semi-hibernation called torpor. The temperature was above freezing when I took this photo, and the snow was rapidly melting when I took this photo in Madera Canyon in the Coronado National Forest. I performed some digital manipulations on the background to brighten colors and slightly posterize the color detail.

About Gregory Scott
I'm a photographer, though sometimes I experiment in other media. My mother was an artist, and on school holidays, when she had classes at the art museum, I got to spend entire days roaming the galleries of the Cincinnati Art Museum. My twin sister is an artist, and my father took up photography about the time I did, when I was in college. I'm also a former machine tool programmer, database analyst, and mathematics and physics teacher, and those things undoubtedly have impact on my perceptions as well, as do my Christian perspective and philosophy. Both photos, bird and snowy background, were taken in the same location, within a couple of days of each other. The flash photo of the bird is, in a way, very unnatural, since it is high speed flash. The background, is much more "natural", but has been subjected to alteration in a digital effects filter called "Topaz Simplify", which altered the detail and the color in a way that made it complement the bird, in my judgement. The Magnificent Hummingbirds go into topor when it is very cold, but will fly to nectar feeders even on snowy days, if they are available.
