Milkweed (Asclepias sp.) seed pods. Milkweeds are named for their milky juice. The silky, fluffy filaments of the seed pods are attached to individual seeds. When the seed pod ripens, the filaments and seeds are blown by the wind. Photographed in October, in the Detroit city park of Belle Isle, Detroit, Michigan, USA.
