Love me some fractals - This creation is alive and sublime, plus a bonus history lesson to boot. What could be better than that?

Thanks John

These richly sculptural swirling details are contemplative and intriguing, Doug.

The bottom seam was stitched so closely to the dinosaur that the legs of the animal were incorporated into the seam and ruined the appearance of the overall design. This has occasionally been a problem with other designs and seam stitching. Quality control not in place. An accurate replacement should be provided. This was to be included in young granddaughter's birthday package. Was unsuitable to gift.

This product was stitched well and the image as featured on the FineArtAmerica site was positioned on the finished zippered pouch as promised.

Quality of product, placement of image was better. Actual placement of lettering of "enjoy the Ride" did not all appear on same side of zippered pouch. Only "the Ride" appeared on the front panel with the bike. In view of timing to provide this as a gift to my granddaughter I no longer have possession of the pouch for photographing. This can be achieved if needed in order to prove my point and to provide the customer a better finished product as featured on their FineArtAmerica site.

Poor quality control of seaming alignment did not allow full image as shown on original FineArtAmerica page. Below you will see how unsuitable the final product assembly and stitching was. A corrected zipper pouch to reflect the design placement as promoted should be provided to customer.

Artist's Description

According to Greek mythology, two monsters lived on opposite sides of the Strait of Messina in Italy. Charybdis lived on the North side, a ship-devouring beast that created giant whirlpools from which few sailing ships could escape. Scylla lived in a cavern on the rocky South walls of the strait. She had four rows of eyes, and six long snake-like necks, each topped with a head with three rows of razor sharp teeth. She could scramble down the rocky walls on 12 tentacles, grab six sailors and devour them. These two evil fates created great angst among even experienced sailors, and ships would frequently succumb to one or the other horrible beasts. The idiom "between Scylla and Charybdis" has come to mean choosing between two equally dangerous situations or outcomes. The fractal abstract Scylla was crafted directly from modest manipulations of an exact photographic negative of the fractal abstract, Charybdis. It seemed a fitting portrayal of the beast who lived in the brown rocky wall...

About Doug Morgan

Fractals! There is richness and wonder in endless repetition. The eye seems to hungrily seek out repeating patterns by instinct, while the mind assembles separate or even disparate pieces into a single cohesive whole. Fractal art spontaneously elicits a gratifying union of both processes. I create fractal art through a digital medium. I am drawn to making fractal images that evoke a sense of the familiar. The joy that comes from uncovering the “familiar” while transforming fractals can be intense, similar to the “eureka!” moment of an epiphany. Many of my fractal designs are specifically created to mimic elements found in our daily lives. The most frequent themes of my work are candies, flora and fauna, machinery, and fanciful...
