Description
Archival pigmented ink (fine tipped pen) and archival art marker on acid free paper. 810 inch drawing in an 1114 inch mat. Completely hand drawn without the use of computer assistance.
When I was drawing this piece I was reminded of the shape and pattern of some of the spiral arm galaxies that have been observed using the Hubble in recent years (decades soon). The circles are a reminder that mass is clustered in a fractal or self-similar arrangement across several length scales. Stippling suggests the halo of cosmic dust.
I am not an Astrophysicist, but it is a subject that fascinated me as a girl. When I try to think about stars and planets, dust and star clusters all orbiting together and around one another, I cannot help but imagine a slow and incredibly complex and refined dance.
