Tumour, computer artwork. Tumours are caused by the uncontrolled growth of previously normal cells. The resulting growth (green) can invade and damage surrounding tissue. Growing tumours are able to stimulate new blood vessel (red) growth which provides a direct blood supply. This process is known as angiogenesis.
