Description
The banyan tree is considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. It is valued for its shade and beauty and represents eternal life. This banyan tree has the look of fire or spirit springing forth from the earth. The Shiva lingam (yellow painted and round stone on the pedestal) are worshipped with water, milk, yoghurt, honey or leaves to remind people of nature. This painting is on handmade cotton paper from Orchha, India where I painted the picture. It has a lovely sage green mat with a excetionally beautiful wood frame. If you would like to see a picture of it framed and matted, contact me at shansen@wmol.com
