MODEL RELEASED. Vertigo test. Patient undergoing a vertigo test. Here, the inside of the ear is being irrigated with a jet of water. This test is designed to artificially recreate the sensation of vertigo in the patient, so that the cause can be diagnosed. Vertigo is a balance disorder that creates the illusion for the patient that their surroundings are spinning. The ear contains the semi-circular canals, which are part of the human balance sensory system. Photographed at the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) department at the Fondation Rothschild, Paris, France.
