Description
This is a West African caecilian, Geotrypetes seraphini, known as the Gaboon Caecilian. They have many sharp teeth for capturing food, which includes earthworms. The species gives live birth to small, nearly translucent babies that look like earthworms. The female guards these young for a number of days after birth. These animals are fossorial, or live beneath the ground in soil and decomposing vegetation. This is a female. It was collected in Cameroon.
