This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

Theoretical section through geological strata of varying ages. Copperplate engraving with original hand colouring from Guerin's French Picturesque Dictionary of Natural History" circa 1834. Geology was at the forefront of the sciences in the early 19th century, a fact that encouraged many Europeans to take it up as a scientific pastime. Books like this gave an insight into the "open book of nature" that they might read."
