Description

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Artist's Description

Nineteenth century cartographer T. M. Fowler traveled the United States and Canada producing hand drawn, panoramic maps. The majority of his work recorded locations in Pennsylvania. He spent time traveling Texas in the early 1890s charting the growth of Texas cities. This map captured Childress, Texas, in 1890, the year the county seat town incorporated. The arrival of the Fort Worth and Denver City Railroad spurred the organization of Childress County and the need for a county seat. Two rival communities on the famed XO Ranch--Childress and Henry--engaged in a battle to emerge as the county seat. Elections, judical battles and eventual compromise led the two rival communities to merge in Henry, which agreed to rename itself Childress. Visible in the map is the Childress County Courthouse (under construction in 1890), the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad line, the Baptist Church, jail, and public school.
