1950's - Navajo Woman on Horseback is from film taken in the '50's by Willoughby Senior during his 30 year relationship with the Hopi and Navajo tribes. This work is copyrighted and may not be used without permission. This work was translated into a photographic work by one of his daughters, Lenore Senior.
About Willoughby Senior
WILLOUGHBY F. SENIOR: 10/15/16 - 02/04/84 (deceased). DO NOT SEND SALES MESSAGES VIA THIS SITE! Willoughby graduated from the National Academy School of Fine Art in New York City in two years, rather than the traditional four years. He was the author and illustrator of the book "Smoke Upon the Winds," published by Swallow Press, about his experiences over 25 years among the Hopi ("People of Peace"). One reviewer called him a "truly participatory observer." He also spent those years among his Navajo friends. Willoughby got his B.A. in Philosophy. He also had the equivalent of a Ph.D. he liked to call "in applied social ethics." Willoughby's three children are continuing this site in his memory and the memory of their mother, Aileen...
