Simplified microscopic black hole event simulation of particle collisions inside the Atlas detector of the Large Hadron Collider, at CERN, Geneva. Two beams of subatomic particles are accelerated at high energy around the 27km LHC beam-line in opposite directions, and then brought together in a series of collisions within the various detectors, Atlas, CMS and Alice. The illustration shows one such collision producing showers of decay particles (indicated by the red and yellow tracks) emerging from a black hole decay following a proton-proton collision. The pink beamline carries the coliding protons. The rings of concentric detector arrays through which these particle showers pass, have been removed for clarity. In 2014 the Higgs Boson was observed by the Atlas and CMS detectors. The loops in the illustration are intended to suggest, in magnified form, the Higgs Field.
