Description
Biological illustrations. 18th-century journal page with various artworks. At right are the pulmonary veins drawn post-mortem in a 1-year-old child who died from a heart condition (heart at centre in both artworks). Down left are the lung blood vessels of a frog under a microscope. This page is from volume 5 of the 1734 edition of 'The Philosophical Transactions', an abridged collection of papers from the Royal Society. In these abridged collections, artworks from several different papers would be included on a single page. The papers in this collection were all published in 'Philosophical Transactions' in the period 1703 to 1712.
