It was a gift for a friend who has worked on these rigs. It’s now in his own company facility. He loves it.

It would be very helpful to know what the # s correspond to.
This is a special area where the rock base of the land is called diabase (sometimes called Dolorite or Black Granite). The rocks are know by the term "Ringing Rocks" because they ring when struck. This area near us has boulders piled up one on top of the other and not much grows there - hasn't for thousands of years.
To quote the "UNAMI CREEK VALLEYS LANDSCAPE CONSERVATION PLAN"
"The Unami Creek Valleys landscape system is approximately 10,000 acres (15.8 square mile) of mostly unprotected contiguous woodlands that includes the majority of the lower Unami Creek and Ridge Valley Creek watersheds east of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and several contiguous forest areas. The Unami Creek Valleys stands as one of the largest remaining forested landscapes in southeastern Pennsylvania, supporting a vast, interconnected mosaic of relatively natural habitat, with at least 30 patches of forest-interior habitat (30 acres or greater), a series of uncommon diab...
I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

Randy, my friend, you honor me with this feature - thanks!
Lianne Schneider
This is just an incredible scene Carol and shot from just the perfect POV. What a fabulous description - it puts me in mind of one of James Michener's novels - I can't remember the name of it right now (Centennial perhaps) where he describes how the mountains and land formations come to be. For the rest, all I can say is "Wow!!!" I love this intriguing piece! F/V
Carol Senske replied:
Boy, Lianne, I read those books ahem, ah, 40 years ago (give or take) and can't remember either. I know they all started back in the beginning of time and I'd struggle thorough about 200 pages to get to the "real" story - LOL. I am now in awe of the forces and circumstances that create our landscapes. Thanks, lovely lady, for the vote, fave, and lovely comment!
Bob Orsillo
I like the name and it does look the Devils potatoes, Your description is most interesting. These formations always fasciante me. Good one Carol! - v/f
Carol Senske replied:
This is actually igneous rock created from volcanic activity - the heat changes the crystalline structure of shale (in our case). As the the millions of years roll by, the softer areas of rock are eroded and the hard rock remains. Where we live there is very little top soil and infinity rocks. No digging post holes here! Thank you for the V/F:>)
