Description
Limestone karst landscape. The limestone peaks (background) have formed as the surrounding rock has eroded away due to carbonic acid in rainwater. Limestone landscapes sculpted in this way are called karst landscapes. Here, vegetation is growing on the peaks, and small villages and farms (field and farmer in foreground) tucked between the peaks are connected by narrow tracks and paths. Photographed in October, in Yangshuo County, Guangxi Province, China.
