Description
Specimens of fossil coral dating from the Jurassic period (201 to 145 million years ago). Recovery from the Palaeozoic mass extinction took tens of millions of years and involved the evolution of a new group of corals, the ancestors of today’s species. Reefs resembled modern counterparts, but the extent and diversity changed with the climate.
