My sister in law absolutley loves it. She sent a picture of it ot us. When we join her in Hawaii we will be looking for one for our own walls...I love the colors! If our walls weren't already filled here I'd already have one for myself as well...

Absolutely love this print. We converted our formal living room into a music, lounge, study, hang out space for our three tween boys. It’s perfect!

Artist's Description

This was taken June 2011 Michipicoton and Algosoo about to pass at Mission point The photo was taken by Tom geiger and the original is retained as part of the Larry Geiger Collection Vessel History: # By Jody L. Aho The Michipicoten was one of a trio of vessels built on saltwater in 1952 due to a back-up of orders at Great Lakes shipyards. She was launched as the Elton Hoyt 2nd for the Interlake Steamship Company, and the Bethlehem Steel Corporation vessels Johnstown and Sparrows Point were all built to similar plans. Since the vessels were to be brought to the Lakes via the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers, their size was limited. The Hoyt measured 626 feet 6 inches long, 70 feet wide, and 37 feet deep, which gave her a capacity of approximately 20,000 tons. The Hoyt is powered by a 7,700 shp Bethlehem Steel Co. cross compound steam turbine and two oil fired Foster-Wheeler water tube boilers. To clear lower bridges, the Hoyt's cabins and pilothouse were cut apart and carried on deck...

About Tom Geiger

Coming soon..I grew up in Manitowoc Wisconsin and while going through school worked for my father who owned a meat market and Marine supply. My family seems to have a history of being in or around the marine industry . I grew up in the time s when we had more fleets and more steamboats than there are today. i think once ships get in your blood , it stays in your blood. I love being around water and taking photos of ships whether on the great lakes or on the inland waterways.I now travel the united states looking for photo opportunities and am enjoying retirement. I hope everyone will enjoy seeing my photos and hope they will leave comments as to what they think of them.
