Description
This peaceful wetland scene is probably somewhat misleading considering the true location. You may be forgiven for not believing that this location was a stones through from some of the major oil and has refineries in south east Texas. Well, it is. The shot was taken along the frontage road for the I-45 freeway, immediately south of Texas City and across the bay from Galveston Island. On the other side of interstate lies mile upon mile of energy sector infrastructure, blotting the horizon with an array of industrial lights. So I guess this wetland scene is something of an oasis in the middle of Texass life blood. I took several shots at this secluded little location, but decided this one needed the full sepia and textured treatment. I do like how it turned out, and it reminds that all is not lost (from a nature landscape photography perspective) now that we have taken the jump and moved to Texas. This was shot with a Nikon D800 and a Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 lens, and originally conceived as an HDR sunset shot, long before my imagination took over!
