Art by Duy Truong................................(Earlier) Zeke took me aside. He said, "I'm going next door and bring back magic dancing shoes." He gave me a wink and I caught on. We found a great pair of shoes and rushed back to the post office. Yep—these were enchanted shoes guaranteed to turn anyone into a dancing master. "Magic shoes!" Zeke polished them off with his sleeve and claimed he could feel the aura of the magic shoes.
Tom put them on and walked around the room. "I can feel the magic!" he said. Cedric, Zeke, and Alfred began playing a waltz. I counted, "One, two, three, long, short, short," like Mrs. Prescott taught us at River Falls Elementary. I said, "The magic shoes are working.
