Handfulls of an agar seaweed (Eucheuma cottonii) grown commercially on long lines in the shallow waters off southern Sulawesi. It is used in the production of agar/carrageenan, important products used in cosmetics, food processing, and industrial uses, as well as a food for those living in Indonesia. It is an important source of income for coastal people and has relatively limited negative impact on local environment and conservation.
