A nice old barn at the corner of 20th road and highway 331 in Marshal county Indiana. Used for horses now on a small farm split off of what was no doubt at least an 80 acre farm in days past. The horses and a few goats and few chickens are about all that is around now on the four or five acres that remains with the buildings. Painted Plein Air last summer in the fading evening light of a wonderful summer day. The Queen Annes Lace in the small pasture in front of the building was just a wonderful highlight to a nice summer scene. Winsor and Newton Oils on panel.

Mike Yazel has pursued art his entire life. He has worked in Water Color and Oils for over 30 years and is an avid wood carver. Mike has been a painter of the Indiana landscape for decades with a special affinity for its barns and woodlands. He works every year to capture these cathedrals of the farms before they are gone. Most of these structures are well over 100 years old and no longer seem to have place on the modern farm they are being left to return to the soil.
