Description
Cauliflower mosaic virus. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of virus particles (virions) of the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV). This plant virus is a caulimovirus, and has a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) genome. It was first identified in 1937 in wild mustard plants (Brassica campestris) and wild cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea). This virus also infects several other Brassica plants. Symptoms include a banded mosaic pattern. The virus is transmitted by several species of aphids. Magnification: x125,000 when printed 10cm high.
