Description
Ray Harryhausen's "Jason and the Argonauts" (1963) is still hugely entertaining. The special effects magician was never the same after seeing "King Kong" as a 13 year old. Harryhausen (1920-2013) would work alone, up to two years on his stop motion photography, for one film. The skeleton sword fight in "Jason" is amazing.. He would only shoot one half second of film per day.
This Las Vegas, Nevada image was taken at dusk at the MGM Grand. Neptune is guarding the front door of the casino. In "Jason," the Roman god of the sea, opens up a path for the Argo crew to sail through a narrow passage of rocks.
