Description
Torenia is an excellent annual native to tropical Asia that provides steady bloom in a partially sunny or shady area of the garden from early summer until frost. It grows as an upright but compact bush with cool colored bell shaped flowers. In the cold weather, the foliage turns reddish green.
Torenia Plants will add unique color and texture to your flower gardens. These heat-resistant plants continue to flower, even in the toughest conditions, in hues ranging from brightest yellow to deepest, velvety purple. They have a slow-growing mounding habit that makes them ideal for hanging baskets and containers, but also as a border or specimen plant.
A relative to the snapdragon, Torenia, pronounced tor-EE-nee-ah, is also called the Wishbone Flower. It thrives in moisture and humidity, but will normally prefer at least partial shade in areas with extremely hot summers. Many gardeners grow Torenia in pots so they can be brought indoors for household color throughout the late fall and winter.
The Duchess Series includes Duchess Blue & White, Burgundy, Deep Blue, Light Blue and Pink. Mounding tightly and covered in masses of blossoms, these Wishbone Flowers are incredibly attractive and able to withstand high heat and humidity! Only minimal deadheading is required for non-stop blooms throughout the whole season.
