I'm thrilled with the cards! One of the cards I put into a 5x7 frame for someone and the other I sent as a card, both recipients LOVED them. Thank you! The quality of the picture on the cards is fabulous.

Excellent work! High-quality cards at fine price! Especially appreciated after poor-quality work elsewhere.

Mona's work is simply dreamy and the card quality is all that I'd hoped. I've been a fan for years, but since I can't afford to buy original art, I had an idea for a little piece for a new gallery wall and voila! So happy I thought of it and that FAM had these affordable offerings. I'll def be looking for more!

Artist's Description

Bdelloid rotifer. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the retracting foot of a bdelloid rotifer (class Bdelloidea). Rotifers (phylum Rotifera) are microscopic aquatic animals that are related to roundworms. Bdelloids are a class of rotifer found in freshwater and moist soil. They are of interest because males are not present within the species, and females reproduce exclusively by parthenogenesis (without fertilisation). Each individual has paired gonads. Despite the fact that they have been asexual for millions of years, they have diversified into more than 300 species and are fairly similar to other sexually-reproducing rotifer species. Magnification x4000 when printed 10 centimetres wide.

About Science Photo Library

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
