This looks gorgeous printed on wood. It is now hanging on my therapy office wall and is perfect. The color is true to the photo. I love it.

Very pleased with the image, color, printing . My selection of printing onto wood is great for this image. There are a few mildly dark lines which are natural to wood. They show through the image and contribute to the image--glad that none of these was over the face of the horse rider.

Artist's Description
Polarized light photomicrograph of a thin section of a charoite-bearing rock.
Charoite is a rare fibrous inosilicate, so far found only in Yakutia (Russia). Along with having a beautiful violet color in hand specimen, charoite-bearing rocks are fantastic also under the microscope, especially if they have been deformed during metamorphism. In this image, charoite forms the mats that swirl around and in-between the blocky crystals of feldspar, and gives an overall feeling of movement. This is one of the most intriguing things in geology: rocks can flow!
About - MicROCKScopica -
"There was a penetration of the light into solid substance so that I seemed to see into things, deep in...". John Steinbeck was not thinking of rocks when he wrote this sentence in "Travels with Charley - In search of America". However, his feeling exactly reflects what people should think when looking at rock photomicrographs such as in the micROCKscopica galleries. I am a Geologist at the University of Padova, Italy. I work with rocks and make extensive use of micro- and macrophotography to describe the subjects of my studies and their morphological features. As a photographer with artistic intent, my rock photomicrographs have been displayed in photo galleries, at mineralogical and scientific exhibits and in Natural Sciences...

There is often this one sentence when you stand in front of certain works of art: What is the artist trying to tell us?.... Then I looked at the description and I am so amazed that this is a micro-photograph. I am amazed at the depth of the possibilities. They have created a breathtaking result.
