A great place to visit and a Great Capture! f/v

Great capture. v

Nadine & Bob, what I find so interesting about this composition is the combination of the boy posing with the cannon. Now, we would consider him a child, but during the Civil War it is very likely that there were soldiers his age who saw action on the field of battle in the place where he is standing. A thought provoking image! voted

One of my ancestors served as a cabin boy on a Navy ship when he was eleven . A couple were 15 & 16 years and there were 11 from one family Levi Osborne's on my Grandfathers family. William Osborne was awarded the Medal of Honor, and on my Grandmothers side Benjamin Flag was awarded the Medal of Honor. Probably every family living at the time had relatives serving on one side or the other, during the Civil War.

Amazing photograph with historical and editorial value! F/V/tweeted
