Description
Kidney cancer. Light micrograph of a section through an adenocarcinoma in kidney tissue. Cell nuclei are stained dark purple. A carcinoma is a cancer that arises in epithelial tissue. An adenocarcinoma arises from glandular epithelial tissue. The majority of cancers of the kidney are renal cell carcinomas that present few symptoms and resist radiotherapy and chemotherapy. If still localized, the tumour is surgically removed. If it has spread (metastasised), then chemotherapy will be required. Magnification unknown.
