Description
Little tern conservation fieldwork. Researcher blowing on the sternum of a little tern (Sternula albifrons) to determine its gender. This is part of a ringing process for a coastal protection scheme during this bird's breeding season. This seabird breeds in coastal areas and waterways in temperate and tropical regions of Europe and Asia. Little terns are a protected species, and electric fence enclosures are being used in this area as part of animal conservation work to protect them from predators such as foxes. Photographed in June 2016, in Denbighshire, Wales.
