Description
P2XR4 purine receptor molecule. Computer illustration of a molecule of the P2X purinoceptor 4 (P2XR4) in the presence of cytidine triphosphate (CTP) and bound to its allosteric modulator ivermectin. The P2RX4 receptor controls microglia brain cell activation and promotes remyelination of nerve cells in autoimmune encephalitis (brain inflammation). It is being researched for its potential to achieve remyelination for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS).
