This is one of my favorite pictures! I was considering buying it for some time, and now that I have in hanging over my desk, I enjoy it everyday. It is so sweet and it conveys lots of feeling. The little girl is unhappy, but her dog is her friend. It makes you feel better for the little girl.

An excellent experience although very expensive because of shipping to Australia. I was a little anxious about embarking on an online art purchase but fine art america could not have been more reassuring. I love Edward Steed's work and save all his cartoons from the New Yorker. I try and imagine, "who is this guy?" and just want to thank him for how understood his cartoons make me feel..

We are very pleased with our picture, it looks 3 dimensional and looks neat with the light shining on it.

This is a place where I’ve spent a lot of time, and I am very happy with this image of it. Perfect shot—and surprisingly not too sentimental despite the rainbow!

Artist's Description

Blood clot, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Red blood cells (erythrocytes) are trapped within a fibrin protein mesh (cream). The fibrin mesh is formed in response to chemicals secreted by platelets (pink), fragments of white blood cells. Clots are formed in response to cardiovascular disease or injuries to blood vessels. A white blood cell (orange) is also seen.

About Susumu Nishinaga

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
