I was told 38 yrs ago it was circa 1650 Sounds like a tv show I’ve never seen but honestly paid $200 for the frame at a junk/antique shop and painting was in it but damaged and I had it repaired . Total price $200. Murillo had several people copy his work in the 1700s and 1800s but I’ve had this one carbon dated 1654 three times! He would have been 37 yrs old and no one yet was copying or he not that recognized. An art expert in N.Y. is telling me it’s not original but radio isotopes don’t lie. Scratching my head now of what to do . Wayne

This is such good protection for my phone! Yes, I have dropped it a couple times and my phone was fine! What a blessing! I don't use my phone a lot in public, but I've had many people ask where I got it - even several people in Fiji! I wish I had a picture of two young boys looking at it! They were in awe!

I loved the name of the art, as well as the colors. The heavy case is very protective and easy to find in my purse...and reminds me to remain hopeful always!

This is my second of these. My first for my iPhone6 had great color. My second, for my iPhoneXR, the colors are a bit washed out. Not as happy with this one.

Lovely case I have it on my phone now 😀

Artist's Description

Venus. Synthetic aperture radar map of the surface of Venus, showing the Sacajawea Tatera caldera. Rough areas appear bright, flat ones dark. Sacajawea Tatera is a large, elongated caldera located in Western Ishtar Terra on the south plateau. It is a depression approximately 1-2 kilometres deep and 120 x 215 km in diameter. It is thought to have been formed by a collapse of a large magma chamber. This map was created using data gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft.

About Detlev Van Ravenswaay

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
