9-11 is rapidly approaching and remembering the great loss of life that so many experienced ten years ago when the Twin Towers were attacked has been on my mind for the past six months. Over July 4th, this theme started to take form. I didn't know what it was that I would paint, but I just picked up my brush and stated. As I did the background, I kept feeling as if spirits were rising up to the heavens. I wiped paint off to produce a ghostly image of the twin towers and then painted in the metal skeletons of the buildings and the dust rising up from the ground. This was the first abstract painting I have ever done, and it just flowed from my heart. 2001 had a very special and sad memory for me because it was also the year that my husband passed away on Easter Sunday. My heart goes out to all those who mourn for their loved ones during this time.
