When we lived on Long Island, I was lucky to have lots of beautiful beaches and beach scenery to paint. In the days after 9-11, the peaceful beach just seemed like the place to go. Someone had planted a giant American flag in the sand and that said it all. One of my favorite things about this watercolor is the way the late afternoon fence shadows contrast with the sand.

I am a California artist and I divide my painting time between watercolors and oils. My favorites are still life paintings, but I also enjoy beach and garden themes. Many of my paintings come from scenes in my own garden. I have loved all kinds of art for as long as I can remember, and started drawing and painting as a kid. I grew up with a very creative mom and that definitely inspired me to continue on and study art in college. I have a bachelor's degree in Industrial Arts from CSUFresno in California. I have been lucky to live on both coasts- California and Long Island, New York.
