Helen O’Hara ARTIST STATEMENT My primary goal is to create a body of work that best represents the vision and style that defines me as an artist. In order to accomplish this, I use painted images that reference the idea of a spiritual presence, or dimension, which stands behind the visual form. There is a visual dynamic, or yin/yang polarity, between the introverted inner space, which seems secretive and mysterious, and the extroverted outer dimensions, which seem more open and accessible. Additionally, I feel that it is important to explore making a series of images that explore forms and relationships that change and/or evolve over a period of time (e.g., a series of flower studies).
