Oooh thanks for commenting on my work Frances. Gives me a reason to bring another of yours up. This painting is so beautiful. I had a cockatiel whose name was Freckie, short for Freckles, but Freckie fit him better. He rode around on our shoulders and was an active part of the family. He and our pet cat used to curl up and sleep together. It was quite a site! Thanks for the memories.

wonderful depiction of this fabulous bird.....flawless painting..i had 2 cockateils in the 70's..buckaroo and peaches..thanks for sharing ted

About Acrylic Prints

Mounting Option #1

Mounting Option #2

Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of an acrylic print.   Your image gets printed directly onto the back of a 1/4" thick sheet of clear acrylic.

The image is the art - it doesn't get any cleaner than that!

All acrylic prints ship within 3 - 4 business days and arrive "ready to hang" with four aluminum mounting posts (Option #1) or hanging wire (Option #2).

The high gloss of the acrylic sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

There are two different ways to mount your acrylic print.

Option #1 (Mounting Posts) - Attach your print to your wall with four aluminum mounting posts.   The cylindrical cap of each mounting post can be removed, allowing you to thread a small screw along the center axis of the of post and into the wall.   When you're finished, simply reattached each cap, and you're done.   The mounting posts act as stand-offs and keep your print separated from the wall by 1".   All of the required mounting hardware (i.e. posts, screws, and wall anchors) is included with your print.   Click here for mounting details.

Option #2 (Hanging Wire) - With this option, your acrylic print is attached to a 1/4" thick black board which has a wooden frame and hanging wire attached to the back.   There are no metal mounting posts at the corners.   Simply put a nail in your wall, hang your print from the hanging wire, and you're done.   Due to the thickness of the black board and mounting frame, your print is separated from the wall by 1.50"   Click here for mounting details.

This photo is terrific. We bought it for my sons graduation from college. In the summer he is a guide on the Middle Fork. Thanks. Perhaps I can get Dan to send a photo once he gets it up on his wall. Take care, Darrin

Love it! I have to laugh every time I see it. It is good quality and really brightens my day!

This acrylic came to me flawed, which marred the beauty of the print. I’ll keep it because I hate waste; however, I feel like I should get refunded 50 percent.

I have loved this image for years, as the artist (Barbara Gadon) is a personal friend who has shown me her collage work as it progressed. I wanted this piece for my home office to remind me of the soothing words of the 23rd Psalm, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life..." The acrylic version I chose is beautifully rendered, so I was disappointed that it didn't look right where I had intended to hang it, as there was too much reflection from the window opposite. Instead, I hung it near the door to my office, where I see it every time I walk past -- a delightful compromise!

Artist's Description

Cockatiels are among my favourite birds to paint. They have such sweet, almost clown-like faces and friendly expressions. There may be wonderful reference in your own backyard: the leaves and branch were painted from a gum tree in ours! Completed in 2002, this work took 51 hours to complete. The ORIGINAL has sold, but this image is now available as a beautiful greeting card or print through this website. Please take a look!

Her talent was apparent at an early age, accepting her first commission when she was around fourteen, to renowned artist Paul Ashton Delprat, now principal of the Julian Ashton Art School. Paul swapped her painting for one of his etchings ~ a swap Frances was delighted with! Her original paintings hang in private collections in New York, Minnesota, Ontario and her home country of Australia. Developed over many years, her self-taught technique consists of airbrushed backgrounds (liquid acrylic), with the main work completed in watercolour and transparently applied...
