The look on the faces of this couple made me think that the Asheville Drum Circle was probably was a new experience for them. There is a sense of taking it all in - the dancers, the hubbub, the crowds, the noise, the rhythms, the loud drums, and the incessant joyfulness. It can be overwhelming.
Watching and listening to the Asheville Drum Circle can be a highlight of a tourist’s visit to this mountain town. Every Friday night, weather permitting, drummers, dancers, and crowds of observers gather in Pritchard Park to spend 3 or 4 hours enjoying the "Heartbeat of the Mountains." I enjoy spending time there taking portraits of the many fascinating people who come to the event.
Haldane Creative Art includes candid street photography by John Haldane of Asheville, North Carolina. During the Summer of 2018, I specialized in Black and White candid head shots of people on the streets of Asheville, North Carolina. I used a Canon 7D Mark II camera and a 100-400mm lens, hand held, maintaining a safe distance to enable candid portraits.
