I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

This tote bag is gorgeous! I saw a picture of it and had to have it. The colors are just beautiful. The size is better than I expected, because it's larger than I had envisioned it. It is practical and functional as well as beautiful. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Artist's Description

This is my 'creative' design of an Adinkra (ah-DEEN-krah) cloth (shown against a field of Kente cloth, which is a hand-printed fabric made in Ghana. Developed by the Ashanti people, Adinkra cloths were traditionally made for royalty to wear at religious ceremonies. Adinkra are visual symbols that represent concepts or aphorisms. Adinkra are used extensively in fabrics and pottery among the Ashantis of Ashanti Kingdom and the Baoules who historically migrated from Ghana. They are incorporated into walls and other architectural features. This art piece consist of six Adinkras. Their names and meaning, starting at the top, from left to right; and repeated downward, in a cascading 6 X 6 pattern, are:

1. Agyindawura "Faithful Servant"
2. Fofo "Seeds of a plant" - Warning against jealousy and covetousness
3. Dwennimmen "Strength, of mind and body"
4. Gye Nyame "Only God"
5. Nsoroma "Faith" - Child of the Heaven
6. Duafe "Wooden Comb"
