The remains of the original seven mile bridge at Marathon Key is open for bicyclists and walkers. It is a 1.2 mile walk on this link between Maraton and Cabbage Key. Evening is a popular time for getting out. The original Seven Mile Bridge is a converted railroad bridge after the the railroad ceased in 1935. The handrails are the repurposed original train track rails from the bridge when it was converted from part of the Overseas Railroad into the overseas highway.
