President Millard Fillmore granted a parcel of land to a local prominent doctor, named George Story. Like many towns it fell onto hard times during the Great Depression of 1929 and never recovered. As a result, during the many years that followed no one bothered to modernize the existing structures. So it became one of the best preserved 19th century small towns still surviving in the American Midwest today. My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home.
