Description
On this hilltop meadow sits a hay rake left out in the weather. The tall grass in the foreground indicates a loss of interest in this old farm. The old hay rake was probably towed by horses, or maybe an old tractor. It has seen better days. The weathered barn in the middle ground is only a shell with holes in the roof and sides that you can see right through. Behind the barn is an old windmill still bravely standing against the wind and weather. On the horizon is another barn and smaller shed. On the right side of the scene is a broken down barbed wire fence with it's posts leaning slightly and marching down the hill and out of sight. A hill off in the distance is painted in light purple. The sky of yellow to light green is filled with flocks of geese heading south for the winter. The air is filled with their honks and cries. Many a farmer has traded the honks of these geese for the honks of automobiles in the city in the hope of an easier life. This painting is protected by copyright.

Lee, you've touched all the senses in this piece of a life long gone, much simpler but also tougher. Well done.

Great job with this, I really do like this run down house you've painted. Looks so nice with the warm sky and streams of geese!

F/L. Congratulations on all the features this picture earned! It is iconic. I'm enamored of dilapidated structures; they hold a romance, the mystery of untold stories that wee might hear if only we listened hard enough. Wishing you and all your loved ones a beautiful Christmas and a much better 2021!!!
